Random tidbit of biology nerddom:

These little guys, called prions, are individual proteins that are resistant to denaturation and also cause nearby proteins to convert into a mutated form. They are also resistant to protease (the enzyme which digests protein.)

Prions are suspect numero uno of causing Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (mad cow disease), and the method of transmission is ingesting infected brain and organ meat - One reason why I will never eat anything but skeletal muscle.

They cause tissue degeneration and eventually death. There is no known treatment and they are 100% fatal.

So Saturday is when my mom’s family is coming over for Christmas, and it’s not looking very good for me so far.

My bullshit tolerance is way down this year, and I’m speaking my mind when someone pisses me off. I don’t know how I’m going to suffer through the visit of my uncle’s wife. My BS-o-meter is going to be cracked and leaking mercury.

But apparently, I need to have more patience, according to my mom. Right. So I need an infinite amount of patience to put up with her, the one who never knows what’s going on because she’s lost in her head. And my dad, who never hears anything you say because he’s so used to drowning out my mom.

Yeah, so that’s not a lot to ask of me. Infinite patience for two people I’m amazed they make it through the day without making some sort of fatal accident.

Or maybe I’m just a miserable bitch.
